I expected to drag myself through my workout today. The exhaustion I faced after the second training session left me wondering if I was capable of making it through the Couch-to-5K plan. Admittedly, I was close to throwing in the towel.
After a decent stretching session, I walked for the 5-minute warm up, then knocked out the first 60-second jog. All was going well.
I felt like I could have run another 30 seconds without stopping. It’s probably a good thing that I didn’t push it.
I got a bit winded and tired on my second running interval. I held off on mopping my brow, trying to save my energy for the running. I began hoping the time counter on my treadmill would fast forward without me knowing.
During my next walk interval, I sucked down water to refresh my cottony mouth and hopefully hydrate the cramp in my right side. Ugh. I thought I was past that.
The rest of the workout went well, and I finished strong with two additional cool down minutes. I hit the weights and stretched out my super tight muscles.
Several dozen crunches on the medicine ball and three miles on the bike rounded out the session.
When I left the gym I had a ton of energy. It felt great to walk and I cleaned the inside of my car on the way back to my apartment.
