Satan’s growl

It’s 4:20 a.m. and I’m awake, the KSLA News 12 live blog is on and the weathermen are doing realtime updates. We’ve had a day full of tornado watches, severe thunderstorm watches and now, in the middle of the night, tornado warnings. Two so far, within about 30 minutes.

The weather radio we just got has already paid off. It blared out alerts 4 times tonight and once earlier in the day, nearly giving us heart attacks each time.

My dog and I have been in the bathroom twice already, I was in the tub and he was sitting beside me. Poor guy was tired, yawning, he just wanted to go to sleep. And when we finally got back into bed, he tried hopping up with me and missed the bed. Now we’re up, watching the live blog and trying to relax a bit by writing.

There’s purple lightening, popcorn hail bouncing around outside and powerful thunder. A low-grade rumbling is emanating from the earth like Satan’s growl.

My honey is at his Air Force base safe inside a building. I don’t like being away from him. He’s a strong man and I know he can take care of himself, but I still worry.

And … the weather radio went off again. Tornado watch in the parishes and counties around us until noon — later today.
